Mulbarton Youth Cricket Club bids farewell…. It is with sadness and great regret that 2022 proved to be our last season of cricket in the village. Although we had intended 2023 to be our swansong, with a final summer of U17 league competition, in the end this proved impossible. Membership has been in slow decline over the last decade and this has accelerated to a point where we have insufficient members to continue. Challenges recruiting coaches and volunteers, competition from other local clubs, falling numbers and restrictions placed on developing appropriate infrastructure at Orchard Park have all played their part. The Club can be proud of its achievements and initiatives over the last twenty five years; The Orchard Park Trophy, Summer Cricket Carnival and the development of The South Norfolk Community League and the indoor winter zipleague competitions, both of which continue under the auspices of The Norfolk Cricket Board. The Club would like to thank all those who have contributed in any way to our journey and the wonderful times we have had playing cricket in the village. Joe Harris—Secretary
